Parasites: Equal Opportunity Invaders

The word parasite brings to mind certain pictures that may be disturbing and the look on the faces of many when told they have a parasite is not pretty. The fact is that 85% of the population in America has a parasite. These invaders live in weak and deadened tissue. Unless you do something to clear them from the body, they are happy to stay and make what is weak, weaker. You might find symptoms that start off one way that will then change or worsen.

It’s a good idea to cleanse the body with the change of seasons. Parasitic cleansing shouldn’t be overlooked as the cause of unwanted symptoms. Some think their symptoms are just how their body functions. We have come to be identified by our symptoms. We think everyone has them and they are just part of life (check out many commercials). But, we are not our symptoms. Symptoms are the body's way of telling us that something is wrong. Acknowledge them and then seek cleansing or nourishing to eliminate the symptoms so the body can go back to self-healing.

The word parasite comes from the Greek meaning, one who eats off the table of another. This is what a parasite does, they eat the food we eat and take the nutritional value with them. We can still be hungry minutes after we have eaten a full meal.

What are ways people can become infected by parasites?
• insect bites • animal feces
• walking barefoot
• handling raw meat and fish
• eating pork or shellfish
• handling soiled litter pans (cats)
• eating contaminated raw fruits and vegetables
• eating meals prepared by infected food handlers
• drinking contaminated water
• having contact with infected persons (including sexual contact, kissing, and shaking hands)
• inhaling contaminated dust (parasitic eggs or cysts)

Looking at this list it is easy to see how so many people can become infected and why cleansing is essential to a healthy way of life.

Symptoms:
Inability to gain or lose weight
Grinding teeth and drooling while sleeping
Forgetfulness, depression
Chronic Candida or yeast infections
Chronic fatigue and viral infections
Heart pain and numb hands
Migraines or frequent headaches
Chronic sinus or ear infections
Arthritic pains
Floaters in the eyes
Urinary Tract Infections
Back, thigh, shoulder or navel pains
Prostate problems/sexual dysfunction
Itchy ears and nose
Anal itching, especially at night
Burning in stomach
Water retention
Digestive problems, gas
Bed wetting
Liver/Gall bladder problems
Diarrhea Cysts and fibroids
Hemorrhoids, constipation
Irritable bowel syndrome
Itching, skin problems
Trouble sleeping
-This is not all inclusive, but these are some common symptoms. A parasite goes into weak areas in your body Symptoms can effect any area, organ or gland.

What can we do to help prevent parasitic infections?
• Wash hands before eating and after using the restroom
• Wear gloves when gardening or working with soil or sand because soil can be contaminated with eggs or cysts of parasites
• Pregnant women should avoid handling cat litter.
• Do not allow children to be licked or kissed by pets that are not wormed regularly.
• Wash fresh vegetables carefully.
• Avoid eating pork, shellfish (bottom feeders)
• Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and boots when walking in the woods.

Eating a well-balanced diet with lots of fiber, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, and seeds is essential. Fiber helps eliminate worms from the intestines; good nutrition improves immune function and protects the body against parasitic invasion.

It is important to limit dairy foods, sugar, and bad fat. Parasites thrive on these foods. Taking supplements that improve the immune system and improve nutrition can help to keep parasites away.

Parasites are easily shared with others. They can be passed through intimate contact or bodily fluids. If you suspect you have a parasite imbalance you should seek help. There are thousands of different kinds of parasites and the symptoms are often diagnosed as many other issues and diseases! The medical community can test for a small amount of parasites and doing a fecal test does not guarantee they can be found in every specimen, so they often go undetected. Many have gone through numerous tests and have issues they have been suffering with for many, many years, still not getting to the root cause.

There are a few choices for cleansing parasites that I use for my clients. Know that treating a parasite with herbal supplements takes an average of 90 days due to cycling. You need to be patient as you work on the colony of invaders as well as their eggs. Keep away from sugars which parasites love and have a good bowel cleaning regimen to rid your body of this imbalance. If you think you have a parasite imbalance, contact me for more information on supplement choices.

How do I evaluate clients?

 Muscle Response Testing

Muscle Response Testing (MRT) is the modality I use to evaluate clients and see what the body needs to get back into homeostasis (balance). This is where the body can do what it was made to do, heal itself. This is a non-invasive way to seek out the body’s imbalances and weaknesses that are causing unwanted symptoms. The body is always striving to get into balance.  This is how it was made. MRT will evaluate and guide, choosing what the body needs to get back into that desired state of balance.

The brain sends electrical signals to the body and its’ organs and glands to do the jobs they were made to doIf something gets in the way and blocks those messages from the brain to the body, it stops the body from healing, cleaning and nourishing itself. When this happens symptoms will appear. These symptoms are a signal to you that there is a need that is not being met.

MRT utilizes this electrical circuit to aid in the discovery of what the body needs.  Everyone is different and their needs are unique.  MRT shows exactly what is needed and exactly what herbs, supplements or dietary changes will help to get back to balance, where the body can take over.

What might get in the wayTriggers for imbalances and blockages from healing can be many different thingsIt may be a vitamin deficiency, mineral deficiency, overload of toxins, Candida imbalance, a parasite or a mechanical issue.  Symptoms vary from person to person depending on what area is weak in the body.  Symptoms can be digestive, circulatory, respiratory, glandular, blood sugar issues, and allergies; the list goes on!

One way to make people feel good again is to treat the symptomsThere are herbs for symptoms which will help to make your discomfort disappear and not leave you with side effects or other problems that medicines can. This, however, will not get to the root cause and sooner or later, your symptoms will return, either in the same form or in anotherSymptoms may disappear when you strengthen the area affected, but move to some other area in the body causing another type of symptom.

Getting to the root and treating it will lead to a body in balanceRemaining that way takes some work and maintenance.  I find that once you are feeling good and achieve this balance and stay tuned to your body, you recognize when you need to tweak or change in your routine to get back on track.

Herbs are food and aid the body in nourishing, cleansing and feeding the different body systemsJust as your car and home need maintenance to stay in working order, so does the bodyI have heard that there are people who do not take care of their body, eating a diet high in fat, simple carbs and sugar and they seem to be just fine!  Looking at the outside of the body is not the same as looking at the inside.  There are things going on inside of you before you go to the doctor with symptoms that are out of control.  These didn’t just happen overnight. A body takes time to build up toxicity and disease!  Take the time to look at your diet and lifestyle and make changes and prevent future ailments and diagnoses.

Candida Overgrowth: What can I do?

What is Candida?

Candida is a yeast fungus.  These are beneficial bacteria in small amounts. When this population becomes too much and you have candida overgrowth, your body will show varied symptoms. Initially it begins to break down the wall of the intestines causing first digestive issues and symptoms in your colon.. If this number continues to grow out of control, and it goes unaddressed, the fungus crosses over the stomach lining into the bloodstream causing a varied range of symptoms in many different organs or glands.. This is known as a candida or yeast overgrowth.

Symptoms of Candida/Yeast Overgrowth:

*Fatigue, lethargy, poor memory, inability to concentrate
*Abdominal bloating, distension, diarrhea or constipation, and/or itching
*Extreme sensitivity to chemical fumes, perfumes, or tobacco smoke

*Psoriasis and skin irritations
*Recurrent or persistent cystitis, prostatitis or vaginitis
*Multiple allergic symptoms
*Premenstrual symptoms
*Frequent upper respiratory infections, colds, post nasal drip
*Depression
*Craving for sweet foods or alcohol
*Athlete’s foot, fungal nail or skin infection
*Thrush (oral or vaginal) more then once

*Erratic vision, spots before eyes
*Chronic acne
*You feel worse after eating sugary or yeasty foods or drinks
*Menstrual cramps or pain
*Swollen or aching joints for no obvious reason
*Muscle aches for no obvious reason, tingling, numbness etc.
*Vaginal discharge, irritation, vaginal yeast infection
*Impotence or loss of sexual desire

*Hormone imbalance
*Inability to lose or gain weight
*Circulatory and thyroid issues

What Causes this Overgrowth?

*Antibiotic use:
Antibiotics wipe out all of the bad bacteria, but also all of the beneficial good bacteria.
-If you have ever been on antibiotics and have not deliberately taken steps to get this good bacteria replenished, you will have a yeast overgrowth. It is more than just taking a few probiotics afterward or taking them with the antibiotic (the antibiotic kills it as you take it).

*Diet:
The American diet is full of processed, white and sugary foods. If your diet is heavy with sugar consumption, white processed flour as seen in breads, pasta and rice, coffee, alcohol, sugary condiments or meat treated with antibiotics, your good bacteria will be compromised. If you are watching your sugar intake: good for you!! Also make sure you don't eat a lot of fruit as this natural sugar (fructose) can deplete your good bacteria.

I want to make sure you have the best understanding of where you will find sugar. Food manufacturers are hoping you don't! Read your labels; anything with 'ose' on the ingredients is sugar, as well as cane juice, malt, molasses, honey or agave. Anything white turns to a simple sugar quickly, thus spiking your blood sugar and killing beneficial good bacteria.

Stress:
In the world we live in today stress is inevitable.  Our schedules are overloaded. Think about having down time daily, add exercise to your regimen and prioritize sleep.

Think about the ways you process stress. Stress kills good bacteria! Stress comes in many ways; daily stress, hormonal stress and exercise in large amounts, stresses your body (this kind of stress just needs to be addressed with more probiotics).

How to maintain your good bacteria:

1. Maintain a diet full of whole foods and whole grains, vegetables and limited fruits. Keep your diet low in sugar, dairy consumption, alcohol, and coffee.

2. Take a high quality, live
probiotic daily in the right amount.

3. Find
natural alternatives for antibiotics! My family has not been on antibiotics since we began this alternative lifestyle 18 years ago. Our go-to herbs are Nature's Sunshine Silver Shield, Olive Leaf and VS-C.

4.
Manage stress! Take B complex or Nutricalm for your body to deal with stress and protect some of your good bacteria.

Treating candida overgrowth:

*Candida diet for cleansing. (Contact me for a copy or write in the comments below)

-Probiotic 11  Eleven Elevated which replenish the good bacteria AND

-Silver Shield which kills the bad bacteria

-You need to have this combination of replenishing the good bacteria while eliminating the bad bacteria to repopulate the good bacteria fully.

Contact me with questions or concerns or post a comment. I’d love to hear from you.

Health Journey: At The Beginning

I have been on this health journey for 20 years now. Like many clients I see, I was searching for answers when the medical world was failing my child. I had no experience in alternative healing but knew things were not right in the path that we were on. After many months of getting no answers, I brought my daughter to a Naturopath who opened my eyes to a new way to heal the body.

This healing came to my daughter, but it wasn't instant or with one pill. It took some lifestyle changes and routines that we needed to put into place. We also added supplementation as a daily routine to support the body and treat root causes for my whole family.  I saw things like allergies, eczema and asthma disappear after making these changes and addressing root causes. Ailments I thought were just part of who I was, things I owned as mine, were gone! My whole family experienced better health and diminished symptoms.

I began to gather information like a hungry stray. I couldn't get enough and took voracious notes on people and treatments. I had notes everywhere, taking information from my practitioner who was eager to share, as well as friends who have been treated.  My excitement for these alternative ways began to grow as I saw those around me changing and healing. Eventually, I was encouraged to go for training.

That was 20 years ago. My family continues to stay true to those changes. We continue to follow those lifestyle choices and supplement with quality herbs to enhance, cleanse and balance our body. My passion for education is steady and growing. I want to give people the information needed to be in charge of their health choices. To have the power to create their own legacy of health. I look forward to hearing from you about your journey and how I can support you.
